Gandhinagar: The office of the chief electoral officer (CEO), Gujarat, said on Thursday that the final voter list for the upcoming general election has been prepared and there has been an increase of 6.89 lakh voters in the electoral rolls.

The final electoral rolls for the upcoming general election have 2,54,69,723 males, 2,39,78,243 females and 1,503 members of the third gender, taking the total number of eligible voters in the state to 4,94,49,469, a statement issued by the CEO Gujarat said.

In the special electoral rolls revision drive that was conducted across the state from October 7, 2023 to December 9, 2023, 3.14 lakh males, 3.74 lakh females and 54 members of the third gender were added to the electoral rolls, the statement said.

Meanwhile, 1,53,958 names of persons who have expired were removed from the electoral rolls during the revision programme.

The statement added that persons who are eligible to vote can still apply for being included in the electoral rolls on the ECI application.

The statement said that EPIC (elector's photo identity cards) of those who have been added to the electoral rolls are being dispatched and all the persons who have been added to the electoral rolls will receive their EPIC by the end of February.
