BRISTOL - Roy passed away Feb. 2, 2024, at the age of 99 after a brief illness. He was the beloved son of the late Mabel and Ernest Johnson.

He leaves behind three cherished daughters, Cheryl Plourde of Bristol, Holly (Joe) Rubbo of Waterbury, and Sara Johnson of Prospect. In addition he leaves six grandchildren, Cheri (Steve) Rose, Michelle Plourde, Todd Plourde, Mario Rubbo, Marc Rubbo and Breanna Pelosi. He leaves five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He served his country in the Army during World War II in the China, Burma, India theater in the Signal Corps and later in the Connecticut Army National Guard. He worked as a tree surgeon for Kelly Tree Services, Sealtest, and then Pratt & Whitney until he retired.

Growing up he and his friends often played a ballgame claiming names of MLB teams. He chose the Detroit Tigers and that started his love for that team for the rest of his life.

He was also an avid fan of the UConn women's basketball team and enjoyed following their playing seasons. He also enjoyed bowling and while working at Pratt & Whitney played in a league.

While he will be very much missed and always loved, he has left behind an amazing family, too many great memories to name, has instilled a strong sense of integrity and a focus on hard work to achieve life goals.

Services will be at the convenience of the family.
