ISLAMABAD: The Jamaat Islami has rejected election results, particularly on National Assembly seats in Islamabad and Karachi, demanding that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) stop issuing notifications of successful candidates.

Addressing a press conference at the JI office Friday, the JI central naib ameer and party's candidate from NA-46 Islamabad, Mian Muhammad Aslam, said that the mandate of the Jamaat had been stolen in various constituencies.

He mentioned that the complete number of votes for JI candidates from three constituencies in Islamabad had not been shown on Form 47, as issued by returning officers on Friday. "The tally of votes as mentioned in Form 47 does not conform with the votes as recorded on Form 45 by the presiding officers of each polling station," he said.

He called upon the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) not to issue official notifications of successful candidates until the results are compiled as per Form 45 from all the polling stations.

"The number of votes shown on Form 47 is much less than what we collected from Form 45," he added. JI Islamabad ameer Nasarullah Randhawa and JI candidates from NA-47 and NA-48 Islamabad, Muhammad Kashif Chaudhry and Malik Abdul Aziz, were also present.

He said that his party had also been deprived of seven seats in the National Assembly in Karachi through massive rigging. Mian Aslam emphasised that the tradition of manipulating victory for losing candidates and depriving rightful candidates of victory should now come to an end.

"Billions of rupees were spent on the election exercise, but not only the whole nation but also the international community is witnessing bogus results," he concluded.
