LONDON, U.K. -- One of the English Premier League's top clubs is hoping to get back on the winning side of things on Saturday as Tottenham Hotspur prepares to host Brighton & Hove Albion.

Despite having a couple of solid performances to begin the new year, the Spurs had a bit of a letdown last Saturday, only salvaging a point thanks to a late goal given up against Everton. While Tottenham is closer to the top of the table than most, there are notable holes in their game that have allowed clubs like the Toffees and Brentford to hang around. The Spurs are unbeaten in their last four EPL matches, and seven of their last eight. However, they need to find an extra gear if they want to sneak into the top four.

They come into Saturday fifth in the table, holding the UEFA Europa League qualifying spot, two points back of Aston Villa for fourth, and six ahead of sixth-place Manchester United.

Tottenham's last loss in league play came at the hands of Brighton on Dec. 28. The Seagulls have really had a variety of outcomes as of late. They swamped Crystal Palace, 4-1, last Saturday but drew with Wolves on Jan. 22. They kicked Sheffield United up and down the pitch in the fourth round of the FA Cup but then were skunked, 4-0, to lowly Luton Town almost two weeks ago. It is the reason why Brighton is falling back near the middle of the standings, and not trying to sneak into the top five.

Brighton is eighth in the table, nine points back of the Spurs. Tottenham leads the all-time series, 20-8-10.
