Malawi Olympic Committee duo bid farewell

Two Malawi Olympic Committee (Moc) officials Flora Mwandira and Frank Chitembeya have said they campaign to seek a fresh term ahead of the body's elections in Lilongwe on Saturday.

Mwandira, who has been a Vice President for the committee since 2010, said she did not ask affiliates to nominate her.

"I think I have done my part and I should let others serve the nation. Some affiliates were eager to nominate but I opted out so that fresh ideas should come into the system," Mwandira said.

On his part, Chitembeya, who is the Vice General Secretary, said had other assignments to fulfil.

"They say a best dancer knows when to leave the stage. I am currently engaged with other equally important matters," Chitembeya said.

Moc President Jappie Mhango is set to retain the post unopposed when the body goes to polls.
