Marcos urges Filipinos to reflect, renew faith on Ash Wednesday

MANILA, Philippines: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. urged Filipinos to "reflect and renew our faith" as he joined the Catholic faithful in commemorating Ash Wednesday.

The President issued the statement as Christians worldwide observed Ash Wednesday on February 14.

"In observing Ash Wednesday, let us all reflect and renew our faith," the President said in a social media post.

Ash Wednesday takes place around six weeks before Easter Sunday or the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The occasion honors the 40 days Christ spent in the desert by fasting and practicing self-control.
