COLUMBIANA -- Patricia Lois Lockwood Evans, a beloved member of the community, peacefully passed away at her home, Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at the age of 95. Her departure is mourned by a multitude of family members, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
Patricia's love for nature was instilled in her from an early age during her upbringing and early life in Boardman. She found solace and joy in spending time outdoors, immersing herself in activities such as gardening, tending to her lawn and finding delight in birdwatching. Her green thumb was especially evident in her passion for vegetable gardening, where she took great pleasure in cultivating unique and unconventional varieties. The fruits of her labor not only brought her immense joy but also served as delicious meals for her family.
Patricia's culinary skills extended beyond the garden, as she approached her gluten-free baking endeavors with a scientific mindset. She meticulously experimented with recipes to create mouthwatering treats that were also considerate of dietary needs.
Throughout her life, Patricia's adventurous spirit compelled her to accompany her husband, a well driller, in his day-to-day activities. Clad in her trusty hard hat, she fearlessly joined him on the rig, demonstrating her unwavering commitment and readiness to lend a helping hand. At the young age of 85, Pat joined her family at The Wilds in Columbus and zip-lined for the first (and last) time in her life.
In 1994, Patricia and her husband fulfilled their greatest dreams when they moved to a small farm in Columbiana. Together, they built their dream home, and Patricia had the privilege of living there until the end of her life.
Patricia's impact on the community was profound and she was cherished by all who knew her. Her legacy is one of love and family. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Graham, Deborah "Devan" Hartnett (Robert), Jacquelyn Evans (Jeff) and Dawn Evans, all of whom deeply miss her. Her brother, Gordon Lockwood (June); grandson, Paxton Graham; faithful feline companion, Muffin; and cherished grandcats, Ricki and Yuki, will forever hold her memory close.
In addition to her immediate family, Patricia leaves behind a community of extended family, including nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and all those whose lives she touched. Each one mourns the loss of a remarkable woman whose kindness, passion for nature and adventurous spirit left an indelible mark on their lives.
May she rest in eternal peace, forever surrounded by the beauty and tranquility she so deeply cherished.
