Shooting in Akron leaves 26-year-old man dead

AKRON, Ohio -- A 26-year-old man has died after he was shot Monday afternoon in an area near the Sherbondy Hill and West Akron neighborhoods.
Officers were called to the 900 block of Bellevue Avenue just after 4 p.m., where they found the victim on the ground with gunshot wounds. The man, whose identity has not been released, was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center in critical condition, but he later died of his wounds.
Police say the circumstances leading up to the shooting are unknown, but several unknown males ran from the scene following the shooting.
No additional information was available Monday night and the investigation is ongoing.
