MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) -- Wisconsin's Indigenous communities are in the spotlight at the Capitol Thursday.
The 20th State of the Tribes address features Chairman James Crawford of the Forest County Potawatomi.
He'll welcome members of Wisconsin's 11 federally recognized tribes and deliver this year's address at 10 a.m. to a joint session of the Wisconsin Legislature in the Assembly Chambers.
The annual address is an opportunity for the people of Wisconsin, constitutional officers, Justices of the state Supreme Court and legislators to understand the issues facing Native Nations and celebrate common values.
Each year the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council selects a governing member to deliver the address.
