The arrested boy had recently returned to the city and was staying with his friend in a rented room at Eachanari. Around 8pm on Thursday, the two went around on a motorcycle with a sword. They took turns driving the motorcycle and wielding the sword.

They did not allow any other vehicles to enter the junction. They also intercepted a private bus which was heading towards Pollachi from Coimbatore, threatened the bus driver with the sword, and verbally abused him.

They then went to the college and demanded that their fees be refunded. They also threatened to kill college staff P Balakrishnan, 58, and Ravichandran with the sword. The staff, however, managed to escape. Police registered a case against the boys based on Balakrishnan's complaint.

Police arrested one of the boys on Friday and seized a motorcycle and the sword from him. He was produced before a juvenile justice board and lodged at an observation home for juveniles. Police have formed a team to nab the other accused.
