CHESTER, Ill. -- Evelyn Ann Wittenborn, 94, of Chester passed away at 1:35 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at Three Springs Senior Living and Rehabilitation.

She was born to Louis and Marie Bueckman Blechle on Jan. 31, 1930, in Chester. Evelyn married Charles Wittenborn on Oct. 7, 1950, in Chester. He preceded her in death Feb. 15, 1996.

She had worked as a secretary for the Randolph County treasurer for 17 years.

Evelyn was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester, where she served on the altar sodality. She also enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include six sons, Dennis Wittenborn (Dava Crump) of Punta Gorda, Florida, Brad (Michele) Wittenborn of Cape Girardeau, Bob (Susie) Wittenborn of Cape Girardeau, Jay (Lisa) Wittenborn of Chester, Andy (Lee Ann) Wittenborn of West Lafayette, Indiana, and Pat (Joyce) Wittenborn of Oak Ridge; 15 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Wittenborn; three sisters, Eileen (Gene) Meyer, Tootie (Carl) Gardiner and Patricia Whistler; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at the church, with the Rev. Sebastian Ukoh officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or School in Chester or for Masses.

Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester is in charge of arrangements.
