SHAWANO, Wis. -- The Logan High School boys basketball needed a big basket in the closing seconds -- and several more along the way -- from junior Jacob Hackbarth and got it for a great start to its WIAA Division 2 postseason.

The ninth-seeded Rangers were tied with the eighth-seeded Hawks when senior Nick Joley drove into the lane and found Hackbarth open for an opportunity to break it. Hackbarth's basket with 11 seconds remaining wound up being the difference as Logan beat Shawano 52-50 in a regional quarterfinal.

The Rangers (8-17) used a strong finish by Hackbarth, who scored 28 points -- half of them down the stretch -- including a 3-pointer that tied the score at 50 with 30 seconds left.

Hackbarth made three 3-pointers, and junior Bradley Check added two 3s and 10 points as Logan qualified for a semifinal game at top-seeded West Salem (21-3) on Friday.
