SINGAPORE -- The decomposing body of a 36-year-old man was discovered near a slip road leading to the Central Expressway (CTE) on Monday (26 February). According to Shin Min Daily News, numerous police officers and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel were at a slip road along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 that afternoon.
A reporter from Shin Min, who visited the scene around 5pm on that day, described the location where the body was found as narrow and secluded, with the nearest residential estate approximately 60 metres away at Block 560 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10.
One passer-by, who chose not to reveal their identity, informed the Chinese paper that a witness had seen a body hanging from the road railing. The body was surrounded by bugs, and emitted a strong foul odor, according to the passer-by.
According to Shin Min, the body was hidden between a fence and the surrounding trees, and was found with a rope around his neck. The SCDF also needed to cut down trees within a two-metre radius to retrieve the body, which was hanging from an elevated position, the local publication said.
Shin Min also reported that the body was discovered by a group of contractors patrolling the area as part of an annual inspection.
Media reports said that the SCDF received a call for assistance near the slip road along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 towards CTE at around 11.50am. The police also said that they were alerted to a case of an unnatural death case at the same time and location.
Preliminary investigations by the police have not indicated foul play, but investigations are ongoing, according to AsiaOne.
