MANILA, Philippines: High-scoring guard Robert Bolick admitted his respect and admiration for his former teammates at NorthPort never diminished despite being dealt to NLEX last December in a three-team deal.

But the moment he steps on the court, the 28-year-old guard out of San Beda is "all business."

"Seeing them, my (former NorthPort) teammates, I used to be the leader of the team. They drafted me, but the love and the brotherhood, they are still there," Bolick told media men in Filipino, moments after he led NLEX to a 107-100 overtime win in his first meeting with his former team since being traded.

"I'm happy we won. They (Batang Pier) have a great lineup. They have the size," he added.

Bolick, selected third overall pick by NorthPort in the 2018 PBA Draft, had a big game against the Batang Pier.

Defying the youth and size of NorthPort, which had Will Navarro and last year's first round draft pick Zav Lucero in the game, Bolick finished with all-around numbers of 31 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Bolick knocked down the go-ahead free throws to shatter a 100-100 deadlock, while the rest of NLEX took the cue from there to hammer out the thrilling win.

Bolick said his all-out desire to win is something his former teammates at NorthPort know very well.

"They know me and how I play. They know how I want to win in whatever team I play. And they know my mentality because we really want to reach the end of this conference," shared Bolick, referring to hopefully, winning the championship.

And despite the big offensive effort to kick off the new conference, Bolick deflected the credit to his teammates.

"I'm just really happy because my teammates stepped up because coach Frankie (Lim) has been reminding us a number of time that we have held a big lead, only to lose it and lose the game," he shared.-
