FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The Fresno Veterans Home unveiled a monument Monday that honors valley veterans who spent their final years at the Veterans home.

"Every Veteran's name that is on the memorial wall has a story. It has a history. and a legacy. And all of you, in one way or another, reflect that legacy, that story," said Representative for the 21st district, Jim Costa.

The memorial has five walls, and on each wall, there is the veteran's name, birth year and a branch of the military they served in. There are 385 names engraved on the walls.

Valley leaders say it gives folks the chance to pay their respects to those who put their lives on the line to protect the U.S.' freedoms.
