DOST holds forum on women empowerment through partners, science and innovation - ExBulletin

MANILA, (PIA) -- The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), together with the Philippine Commission for Women (PCW) and UN Women Philippines, announced that it will hold a forum titled "Paying Attention to GAP (Gender and Poverty)" .

The forum, scheduled for March 22, 2024, will focus on science, technology and innovation (STI) initiatives that advance women's economic empowerment. It will be held in a hybrid format with face-to-face participation and online participation via Zoom.

'Mind the GAP' will serve as a side event to the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), which addresses gender equality, women's empowerment and women-focused poverty reduction strategies.

The purpose of the forum is to:

Recognize the link between poverty and human rights violations, especially of women. Discuss strategies to protect the rights of women living in poverty and promote gender equality and empowerment. Examine current and future challenges and opportunities for advancing gender equality. Promote women's economic participation.
