Gunman in ski mask kills 1 in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM -- A person wearing a ski mask killed a man in the 100 block of 1st Avenue SW on Monday, according to Birmingham Police Sgt. Laquitta Wade.

Just before 5 p.m., officers responding to a person shot call found an adult male lying unresponsive on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.

Wade said the investigation indicated the victim was standing outside with others when a suspect wearing a ski mask started firing shots. The victim was struck in the gunfire and the suspect fled the scene.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim dead.
