SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - The Texas A&M track & field team at its first meet of the outdoor season won 13 events, setting six all-time marks and five meet records on the final day of the Carolina Spring Break Classic at the Pista Atletica Basilio Rodriguez.

Winners

Sam Hankins, javelin, a personal-best 255 feet, 9 inches to rank third in school history.

Carter Bajoit, high jump, a personal-best and meet-tying 7-4 ½, to rank third in school history.

Kimar Farquharson, 800 meters, a nation's-leading 1 minute, 46.20 seconds, also a meet record and No. 6 in school history.

Sam Whitmarsh, 1,500, a meet record 3:44.51, and No. 9 in school history.

Carlie Weiser, shot put, 50-1.75 to rank No. 8 in school history.

"I thought our team did a really good job today," A&M coach Pat Henry said. "Some of the marks were extremely impressive, especially so early in the season. We can take a lot of positives from this meet, and now we head home for another good test next weekend."

The Aggies will have the Texas A&M Invitational at the E.B. Cushing Stadium on Saturday.
