Manila, Philippines: The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Sunday that it is monitoring cloud formations in Visayas and Mindanao that may bring rain in the next 24 hours.

Weather specialist Rhea Torres said these cloud clusters will not develop into a low pressure area.

"But these cloud formations would be bringing isolated downpour and thunderstorms in areas in Visayas and Mindanao," she said.

In its 5 a.m. advisory, the weather agency said the easterlies - winds coming from the east that pass through the Pacific Ocean that bring humid and warm weather - are affecting Eastern Visayas and Caraga Region in particular.

The same weather system along with localized thunderstorms are bringing partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in Metro Manila and the rest of the country, Pagasa said.
