MANILA, Philippines: Choco Mucho's team captain Maddie Madayag is still recovering from her tendonitis -- but that would not stop her from contributing and leading her squad.

After missing few games with the Flying Titans, the five-foot-11 middle blocker suited up and had minutes in their match against the Farm Fresh.

Madayag delivered in Choco Mucho's match against the Foxies to fend off their opponent's comeback attempt, 25-17, 25-22, 25-21, in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 All-Filipino Conference at the Ynares Center Antipolo on Saturday, March 23.

Choco Mucho's captain churned out 11 points built on eight attacks, and three blocks, despite dealing with a physical setback.

"It is tendonitis. It flared up and the doctor said that it was overused. For now, I can still feel it, but I can play better," Madayag said simply as she did not want to reveal more about her injury.

Madayag had no minutes inside the court in their straight-set win against Cignal last March 14.

She also displayed her eagerness to contribute as she came off the bench in their tight match against PLDT, where Choco Mucho suffered its first-ever loss in the league.

Despite not being in a 100 percent condition, Madayag knows that her team has her back and she is willing to contribute in any way or form she can.

"Even though I am not in the starting lineup, my leadership to the team is always there. Whatever role I have to fill in the team and what my coaches assigned me to do, that is what I will do," she said.

"We have a lot of leaders in our team, despite I am not there physically. Sisi (Rondina) is there, and each one of us in Choco Mucho can lead and all we have to do is to follow the system of Choco Mucho," she added.

With Choco Mucho sitting at the top with a 5-1 win-loss record, the team will try to take the upper hand as they will next face the Galeries on Tuesday, April 2, right after the league's break.
