Hospitality Industry Plea To Put Licence Fee Renewal Hike On Hold | Guwahati News - Times of India

Guwahati: Assam's hotel and restaurant association has appealed to the state govt to put on hold its decision to hike the annual licence renewal fee from April 1 and review this decision after the completion of the Lok Sabha elections. The Confederation of Hospitality Industry of Assam said the govt has issued a notification increasing the annual fee by 100% to 400%, , reports Tathagata Bhattacharjee.Shashwat Parth Sharma, the secretary of the association, said, "This exponential increase in the excise fee is directly related to the liquor prices. Previously, our profit rates were at 30 to 35%, however in the last few years it has dipped to 8.5%."
