Data theft case: Eight officers suspended as Nadra initiates action on JIT's recommendation

ISLAMABAD: Disciplinary action has been initiated against several officers in the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), with over a dozen facing action, eight of whom already suspended and charge-sheeted.

Action has been initiated against Usman Cheema and Usman Javed holding the post of DG Technical, as well as against Ahmarin Mir, DG Network, Karachi, and Faisal Ayub, Khair Mohammad Soomro, Rana Zulfiqar, Ali Mohiuddin and Muhammad Ibad. A Nadra spokesperson confirmed that disciplinary action has been initiated in the institution in the light of recommendations of a joint investigation team. However, he did not share the names of individuals, citing court proceedings and data privacy as reasons. The JIT has confirmed theft of data of 2.7 million Pakistanis from Nadra's database.
