Guwahati: Special afternoon prayer services were held at the churches of the city to mark Good Friday, which marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, which lead to his death at Calvary.

Reverent Harrison Messih, priest-in-charge of northeast's oldest church, the Christ Church at Pan Bazar, said, "Good Friday is observed as a mourning day. Although it is a sad day for us, it is called as "Good Friday" because Jesus died for the sins of humanity so that we can have eternal life.We had an afternoon prayer from 12-3 pm to commemorate the occasion."
