JOHANNESBURG - After seemingly endorsing the Economic Freedom Fighters in March, warning that the African National Congress (ANC) would win the elections through fraudulent means, the AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo is now donning ANC t-shirts and appearing alongside leaders of the governing party.
Dalindyebo, who celebrated his birthday on Friday attended the ANC's Chris Hani manifesto launch, sharing the stage with its leaders including Eastern Cape chair Oscar Mabuyane.
Over the years, the king has backed different political parties.
This is the AbaThembu King just two weeks ago, with the EFF:
"It's now or never, if the ANC ever comes back fraudulently, you must render that corrupt government ungovernable."
He's been donning the red berets colours, and was also gifted with a luxury vehicle by the fighters.
Before that, he was a man about town in a blue t-shirt after joining the Democratic Alliance (DA) in 2013.
Then DA leader Hellen Zille described it as huge, having someone in former president Nelson Mandela's lineage rejecting the ANC to support the main opposition.
The DA terminated his membership in 2015 when he was convicted of assault and other charges.
He claimed the ANC as his home, saying he has the right to temporarily shun it and to return to it whenever he wants.
Despite the public showing, Dalindyebo did not call for voters to support the ANC at the looming polls.
