CAPE TOWN - Metrorail said that some of its services were being affected by inclement weather conditions across the Western Cape.

The rail operator's Zino Mihi said that gale force winds had blown debris onto tracks and overhead traction equipment (OHTE).

"The Stellenbosch and Fish Hoek services will be affected. Our assessment is that the repairs cannot be effected on the OHTE at the moment due to potential risks of the strong winds versus working at heights."

Several lines are affected.

"From [the] north, Bellville to Eerste Rivier and Strand, including the Stellenbosch Du Toit stations. On the southern line, the entire southern corridor will not operate, including the Cape Flats line."
