Recreational Activities At Riverfront From May: Pscl | Patna News - Times of India

Patna: Come May, the residents can soak in the serene surroundings along Ganga river, enjoying the summer evening breeze, along with various recreational activities. This as a whole new Ganga riverfront on JP Ganga Path, popularly known as Marine Drive of Patna, will be thrown open in May.

The work to develop and beautify a 3-km stretch of riverfront from Digha roundabout to LCT Ghat with leisure spots along the road started last December, and has been going on in full swing.As per a proposal, picnic spots, vending zones, fountains, security rooms, walking path and parking zones are being developed, which is likely to be ready by next month, the officials of Patna Smart City Limited (PSCL), the nodal agency of this project, have said.

"The Ganga riverfront will be ready by May 2024 by utilising funds to the tune of Rs 52.81 crore," an official says.

The picnic spots will have gazebo for visitors to sit, street furniture, separate toilets for men and women, drinking water facilities, selfie points, food stalls and street lights.

"Under this project, around 120 planter beds will be set up between Digha golambar and LCT Ghat, along the Ganga driveway, while iron grills will be installed on the other side of the pavement. Two parking spaces will be developed, each at Digha and LCT Ghat. Space will be given for the vending zones and each vendor will have 2.5m-wide area to set up their stall," says public relation officer of PSCL, Priya Saurabh.

She adds, "The Marine drive has become the identity of the city and the 3-km stretch between Digha Golambar and LCT Ghat has become a tourist place, where people spend time with friends and family, and enjoy food. "
