MONROVIA - Former Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Representative Solomon George has claimed that ex-Liberian President George Manneh Weah was fooled and tricked by many of those around the presidency, who are no longer seen around the party.

This, he said contributed to the slight defeat of Mr. Weah during the 2023 general and presidential elections.

According to him, most of the officials from the CDC government are hypocrites who failed to speak truth to power.

Mr. George made these assertions in an exclusive interview with FrontPage Africa via telephone recently.

"They lied to Ambassador Weah, they fooled and tricked him. So, we need to go and sit down and begin to recalibrate for 2029. Those wise men that were around the President never spoke truth to him. When we were speaking yesterday, they were speaking against us."

He called Madam Nora Wreh of the CDC of reporting people from Monrovia to Margibi County during the electioneering period in 2023.

According to him, Madam Wreh was allegedly preaching against the CDC, but was still behind the party chanting battle cries in its favor.

Mr. George pointed out that though he has been verbally insulted and openly disrespected by Madam Wreh, a complaint he filed to the party's Chairman emeritus Senator Nathaniel McGill, nothing was done to address the situation.

"Is this not ironical and hypocrisy? Weah was lied to and tricked; they fooled him and they didn't tell him exactly what was happening."

Apologize

Mr. George emphasized that senior officials of the Weah administration who were controlling money, but failed the party should render an open apology to partisans and supporters of the CDC and Liberians in general.

He observed that these former officials, many of who have fled Liberia, misled the CDC and contributed to the defeat of the party in the past elections.

He made specific reference to Finance and Development Planning Minister Samuel Tweah.

Mr. George claimed that Mr. Tweah "was never for or from the CDC."

He alleged that many of those using unpleasant words against ex-President Weah are allies and supporters of the former Liberian Finance Minister.

"People that were running the government-I want to say to them whether they are in the CDC or not, the CDC government was out of the CDC. Those who ran the CDC government and had the money and know they made mistakes, they need to come out openly and apologize to CDCians, friends of the CDC or the Weahcians and even the Liberian people. Some of them fled the country already and they are living abroad. I dire some of them to step at the CDC headquarters ground."

Meanwhile, Mr. George has vowed to remain with the CDC.

"I will not leave the party or change because he is still my leader. But we need to change the dynamics of the CDC. We need to understand that we must respect people. We need to understand that Unity Party never defeated us, we lose the elections by ourselves."

"Democracy is about the people. If you say you are not listening to what the people say, then you will be in trouble. I don't want to call names. Time will come I will call names without mincing of words because, they fooled Ambassador Weah

He, however, expressed the hope that President Weah is certain to return to the presidency due to the poor manner and form in which President Joseph Nyuma Boakai is heading the country.
