CAPE TOWN - Western Cape police are investigating another mass murder in Khayelitsha.
Five bodies were found in Harare with gunshot wounds on Wednesday.
Specialist detectives have been assigned the case to track the assailants.
Meanwhile, in another gun attack, the South African Police Service (SAPS) has revealed that three more people were killed in a shooting in Harare on the same night shortly before the mass shooting.
Both incidents were a short distance from each other.
The police's Andre Traut: "Three hours later, the murders in Ncumu Street were committed, possibly by the same suspects. The identities of the eight victims cannot be disclosed at this stage."
In response, the Western Cape CPF chairperson, Francina Lucas, said that more needed to be done to stop the mass shootings on the Cape Flats.
"We really call on government to prioritise even the safety of our volunteers and to ensure that we don't have any casualties. We are doing this because we love our communities and we want a safer environment for our kids, but it cannot be at the detriment of ourselves."
