COVENTRY, R.I. (WJAR) -- Coventry junior Sage Soars missed all of her schools softball season last year, not because of injury but because she was playing for a travel team in Georgia.
"Seeing my teammates in school, they'd be wearing their uniform to school and I'd miss it because I know how much fun it is and I wish I was there," Soars said.
Every week in the spring, Soars would be back at Coventry High School Monday to Friday, then go directly to the airport and by Friday night to be in another state.
"It was definitely difficult. Even with school and my classes, so I'd have to try and do my work on the plane or in the airport," she said.
She was chasing her dreams, but missing her teammates.
"Everyone was like, oh cool she's in another state, but I missed homecoming, I missed high school dances, I just wasn't even there for a lot of stuff," she said.
As for this year, The Oakers are ready for another State Championship run with their top 10 pitching prospect back, who is ready to make some more memories with her team, while chasing her dreams of playing at the next level.
"It's so much fun. I'm able to play high school so I can enjoy and play with my friends and then also go do travel with my team. So it's good because I can do both and I'm not missing out or having to pick."
