Surat: Their unflinching loyalty and compassion have made dogs the man's best friends. But two Class 10 students decided to use some canine breeds to compare their ferocity with three schoolteachers whom they abhorred for some reason.

The students downloaded the photographs of the male teachers and made an Instagram reel wherein they were likened to dogs. The intention was to heap embarrassment on the teachers using social media, police said.

However, the pranksters were barking on the wrong tree and were caught on Tuesday by the cyber crime police.

The cops were investigating the complaint filed by the school in Jan, detained the two boys for IPC sections of defamation, intentional insult, and sections of the Information Technology Act.

According to details, one of the trustees of the Godadara-based school received a complaint from their teachers that an Instagram reel had been uploaded to defame their institution and it was doing the rounds on social media.

An Instagram ID holder named 'Surtiii. memes!' had made an ID in the school's name to post the reels comparing these teachers to dogs. The reel starts with a two-second visual of the school building and is followed by teachers' photographs with background audio. In the audio, one teacher was likened to the American Pit Bull, another to a Rottweiler, and a third to a German Shepherd.

The reel grabbed a large number of eyeballs with 6,100 likes, stirring up a mix of outrage and amusement, mostly among students.

"While questioning the boys, we came to know they did dislike these teachers for some or the other reason. said police.
