Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad city district education officer on Tuesday issued a notice to the management of the Rajasthan Hindi Medium School, demanding to know why students of Class 8 were abruptly issued school leaving certificates (LCs). The move follows protests by parents of 56 Class 8 students at the school.

"We learned about the protest by the parents of Class 8 students who have been abruptly issued leaving certificates by Rajasthan Hindi Medium School.We have issued a show-cause notice to the school management and asked the members to be present on Wednesday to justify their action. If the school management is found to be at fault, we will take punitive action," said Rohit Chaudhary, Ahmedabad City DEO.

Sources said the school does not have teachers in Class 9 and has been forcing students to shift to the English medium after Class 8. Sources said that the school said they had decided to close down the Hindi medium sections.
