City's Girl Bags Air 67, Wants To Study Computer Science | - Times of India

Surat: Surat's Manvi Mehta secured All India Ranking (AIR) 67 in the JEE main session 2 whose result was declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Thursday.

Yagnik Maru from the city bagged AIR 88 in the SC category. Besides Manvi and Yagnik, Pulkit Biyani (AIR 183), Oishi Nandi (AIR 184), Arjav Desai (AIR 217) from the Diamond City performed well.Most of them want to pursue computer science from any of the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).

Manvi used to study for 12 hours daily to secure a place in the Top-100 list. "It was her dream which has come true," said Manvi's mother Dr Chaitali Mehta.

"It is her hard work that has paid off. She has been preparing for the exam right from class 6. She studied hard without compromising on activities that she liked including dancing and skating. She wants to pursue computer science at IIT-Mumbai," added Chaitali Mehta.

Manvi topped in Surat by getting 100 percentile in chemistry and maths. Pulkit and Nandi ranked second and third respectively in Surat.

Yagnik, who secured AIR 88 in the SC category is a student of PP Savani School. His parents have been selling dress material at the Sunday market (Ravivari Bazar) for the last 20 years.

"I have studied till class 5 while my wife has completed class 10. We are proud of our son who worked hard even when our family was struggling," said Yagnik's father Harshad Maru. Yagnik also wants to pursue computer science from an IIT.

Arjav Desai, who is a native of Jhagadia in Bharuch district lived in a hostel in Surat to prepare for his JEE Main. He bagged 99.99 percentile.
