Ask a Curator: Museum partners with local libraries

Apr. 25 -- BRISTOL -- In conjunction with National Preservation Week, the Elkhart County Historical Museum will be partnering with all public libraries in Elkhart County to offer "Ask a Curator."
These pop-ups will invite library patrons to ask questions of the museum's Curator of Collections on any topic of preservation they are curious about, a news release stated. A schedule of all the dates, times and locations is available on the Elkhart County Parks Events Calendar page and the Elkhart County Historical Museum Facebook page. No registration is required.
The museum's Curator of Collections, Michelle Nash, sees the project as an opportunity to meet with residents from around the county and to answer their questions.
"I think National Preservation Week is a great time to think about things you might have inherited or want to see passed down and we hope to provide tools and resources to help folks do that," Nash said. "We also find that there is often just curiosity about what museum and archives professionals do. I'm happy to chat about that as well."
Nash said she is grateful for the support from local libraries.
"We represent and serve the whole of Elkhart County but since we are located in Bristol, it can be a challenge for some folks to get to us," she said. "We are so excited to be able to get outside our walls and meet people closer to home. It's awesome that every single public library in the county was happy to host us. I hope to see a lot of folks come to have a chat with me over the course of the week!"
