Rwanda Rejects Blame for Deadly DR Congo Camp Attack

Rwanda has dismissed allegations from the U.S. accusing its forces of attacking a displaced persons' camp in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), instead attributing the assault to militias supported by the Congolese military. The government accused the U.S. of endorsing the belligerent stance of the DRC government, undermining its credibility in facilitating regional peace efforts.
The U.S. condemned the attack, which claimed at least nine lives, expressing grave concerns over the expansion of the Rwandan Defense Forces (RDF) and the Rwanda-backed M23 rebel group in eastern Congo.
The M23 rebels' two-year offensive nearing Goma has driven thousands to seek refuge in the city from surrounding areas, escalating tensions in the region.
