Alert community saves the day: Chitungwiza residents arrest gunman in dramatic butchery stand-off

Chitungwiza police have detained Mncedisi Ndlovu (32) in connection with a robbery that took place on 4th May 2024 at a butchery located in Unit C Shops. The suspect, who targeted the establishment, allegedly made off with US$200.00 in cash. However, his escape was thwarted by alert members of the public who responded to the cries for help from the distressed butchery attendant.
The swift action of the public led to the apprehension of the suspect, with the added discovery of a 9mm Browning Pistol during the arrest. Police confirmed the arrest on their X handle.
"Police in Chitungwiza have arrested Mncedisi Ndlovu (32) for robbery in which US$200.00 cash was stolen on 04/05/24 at a butchery at Unit C Shops, Chitungwiza. The suspect was apprehended by members of the public after attacking the butchery attendant who later shouted for help. The arrest led to the recovery of a 9mm Browning Pistol," reads the statement.
