JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance's (DA) KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) premier candidate, Chris Pappas, has also jumped on the bandwagon of warning the electorate against smaller political parties.

Speaking at the KZN launch of the party's Rescue SA campaign, Pappas told thousands of supporters that popcorn parties spent more time fighting against the DA and not the African National Congress (ANC).

The DA is making a play for KZN, hoping to grow its support from the just over 500,000 votes it garnered in 2019.

Its federal leader, John Steenhuisen, has previously been lambasted for being critical of new parties campaigning in the DA-led Western Cape.

But Pappas said that there was cause for concern when it comes to the newcomers.

"We've seen it, again and again, in eThekwini, Msunduzi, KwaDukuza, Umdoni... each and every time, these small parties vote to keep the ANC in power. So, a vote for a small party, is a vote for the ANC."
