Malta, N.Y. -- It was time to crown a champion in softball's Class A. Thursday afternoon, the title game was between undefeated, powerhouse Ichabod Crane and Glens Falls.
The Black Bears on the board first but the Riders weren't held at bay for long.
Tied at one, bases loaded in the third, Abbey Milazzo splits the gap in left center, that's going to clear the bases,, a three-run RBI double for Milazzo, Ichabod Crane out to a 4-1 lead.
In the circle, Kari Graziano would shut down Glens Falls the rest of the way. Top seven, she gets a strike out to end it, throw down to first, game over.
Pure domination from Ichabod Crane. The dynasty lives on as the Riders pick up their sixth straight sectional title, winning 5-1.
We did get down in that first inning but we knew if we scored, I told them "look that's the only run they're getting this game. Let them have that one run. If we hammer down and do our job we're going to have enough runs to win the game." They believed in that and here we are. -Tracy Nytransky-McComb (Head Coach, Ichabod Crane Softball)
I had no doubt that we were going to get some runs on the board and once we did I felt so much better in the circle. It's really special doing it with the teammates that we have and it's going to be a good rest of the year. -Kari Graziano (Starting Pitcher, Ichabod Crane Softball)
The most dominant program in Section II can't be stopped, the Riders are sprinting to states.
