Sudan delegation participating in MENAFATF meetings returns home

Port Sudan, May 25 (SUNA) - The Sudanese delegation participating in the 38th general meeting of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force, held in Manama during the period 19-23 of the current month of May, returned to the country.
The Sudanese delegation was headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing, and Head of the Financial Investigation Unit at the thirty-eighth general meeting of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force concerned with combating money laundering and terrorist financing, Howaida Ali Awad Al-Karim.
The general meeting discussed many important topics, most notably the establishment of a network to recover stolen funds consisting of all countries of the group, in addition to the mutual evaluation report for the Republic of Iraq and follow-up reports for a number of member countries.
Sudan participated in this meeting as an active member of this group since 2006.
During this meeting, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice also met with a number of heads of delegations of the member states of the group and discussed with them joint cooperation in the field of combating money laundering and terrorist financing. BH/BH
