JOHANNESBURG - The owner of the Royal AM soccer team Shauwn Mkhize is embroiled in another tax scandal that could see her lose some luxury belongings.

The businesswoman and media personality known as 'Mamkhize' reportedly owes the South African Revenue Service (SARS) more than R37 million in unpaid taxes.

This is not the first time the soccer boss has been accused of failing to pay her taxes.

In 2020, SARS successfully obtained a liquidation order against her cleaning company for owing more than R200,000 in unpaid taxes.

Mkhize secured much of her wealth from multiple government tenders to build low-cost housing in Kwazulu-Natal.

But details of her riches and investigations by the taxman and National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) into her business dealings have been laid bare in newspaper reports, dating back to 2013.

According to the City Press, she is now facing fresh accusations of outstanding taxes by SARS.

The publication alleges that the tax collector has launched an execution application to attach 13 of Mkhize's vehicles, including a Lamborghini and Rolls Royce owned by Shandi Trust and her soccer team.

If the order is granted, all vehicles belonging to the Shandi Trust, a company wherein Mkhize is the main shareholder, must be delivered to SARS within seven days.

It is alleged that SARS curators visited the businesswoman's property this week, but could not gain access.
