MANILA, Philippines -- The De La Salle College of Saint Benilde Lady Blazers claimed their third consecutive title after a 25-18, 25-17, 25-18 domination against the Collegio de San Juan Letran Lady Knights in the NCAA Season 99 women's volleyball finals at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan on Sunday, May 26.

The Lady Blazers also proved that they are the NCAA volleyball queens as they extended their winning streak to 40.

Gayle Pascual made sure to make her last year as Lady Blazer memorable after being hailed as the Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP), chipping in 15 points.

Player of the game Cloanne Mondonedo flexed her playmaking skills after tallying 16 excellent sets and four points, allowing Wielyn Estoque to score 11 points and Michelle Gamit and Jade Gentapa to both have eight points each.

Holding a 2-0 set advantage, the Lady Blazers were fiery in the third frame after leading by three points down the stretch, 20-17, courtesy of Gentapa's through-the-block kill.

Lady Knight Lea Tapang quickly responded with a hit, 25-18. However, Gentapa and Gamit scored back-to-back hits to inch a championship point, 23-18.

Marie Nitura overcooked her hit that gave the Lady Blazers a huge advantage and a point away to take the crown, 24-18.

With the help of Corrine Apostol's loaded service, the Lady Knights struggled to control the ball as Gamit scored via a gift that led the Lady Blazers to extend their reign, 25-18.

In the second set, Pascual scored from a crosscourt hit to finish the match, 25-17.

Gentapa also closed the opening frame after finishing it with back-to-back powered kills, 25-18.

Letran's sole double-digit scorer Nitura scored 12 points, while rookie Gia Maquilang added nine.
