MOSINEE, Wis. (WSAW) - The Mosinee Police Department and the D.C. Everest School District have confirmed to NewsChannel 7 that D.C. Everest teacher and assistant boys lacrosse coach Quinn Clarke died in Monday morning's crash in Mosinee.

A statement from the D.C. Everest staff said, "It is with great sadness that we reach out to you to share that one of our assistant boys lacrosse coaches, Mr. Quinn Clarke, has passed away. We are deeply saddened by this loss to our lacrosse community and we will make every effort to help you and your child as you need. Our hearts go out to Mr. Clarke's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time."

The crash according to the Wisconsin DOT happened around 1:40 a.m. Initially, only the southbound lanes of I-39/U.S. 51 were closed. However, the Marathon County Sheriff's Office closed lanes in both directions at some point and traffic was being rerouted on Old Highway 51 between Maple Ridge Road and Hwy. 153.

Officials say Clarke's vehicle hit another head-on while heading south on I-39/U.S. 51.

The school district will offer trained professionals to assist students who need help or assistance surrounding the loss. Clark graduated from D.C. Everest in 2018.

According to the Mosinee police department, the crash is still under investigation.
