CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has acquitted Gurmeet Ram Rahim, the chief of Dera Sacha Sauda, in the Ranjit Singh murder case. The court announced its decision on Tuesday.

Ram Rahim, who is currently serving his sentence in Rohtak's Sunaria jail, had previously been convicted in two murder cases and a rape case. Following his conviction by the CBI court in Panchkula, he had appealed to the High Court.

With this acquittal, the dera chief has been cleared of charges in one of the murder cases against him.However, he remains imprisoned due to his convictions in the other cases.
