KINGSTON, Jamaica -Jamaica's Oblique Seville ran a world lead and personal best 9.82 seconds (0.9m/s) to win the men's 100m at Saturday's sixth staging of the Racers Grand Prix at the National Stadium, beating World Champion Noah Lyles of the USA.

Seville, who said later he "surprised" himself after he had to "back off in training" due to a slight injury, surpassed his previous best 9.86 seconds and took over the world lead from American Christian Miller who ran 9.93 seconds in April.

Lyles was second in a season's best 9.85 seconds and Kenya's Ferdinand Omanyala third with 10.02 seconds.

Former St Catherine High runner Julien Alfred of St Lucia ran a lifetime best 10.78 seconds (1.3m/s) to equal the meet record held by Shericka Jackson and went under her previous best of 10.81 seconds, also lowering her national record.

Her time was just outside of the world lead 10.77 seconds set by American Jacious Sears in mid-April.

Krystal Sloley became the 24th Jamaican women to go under 11.00 seconds when she ran 10.99 seconds for second place with Shashalee Forbes taking third with a season's best 11.05 seconds.
