"We need to be fine examples. We should not be involved in immoral acts," said Wanky after Police Staff Sgt. Jotham Arem Tuto was allegedly killed by Police Patrolman Alvin Rios on May 31.

"We constantly remind policemen to follow the government's Code of Ethics and the Officer's Pledge," Wanky told members of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol Press Corps.

The 26-year-old Rios went to the house he shared with his ex-girlfriend to visit their six-month old child but allegedly found the 31-year-old Tuto in the bedroom with her. Rios drew a gun and shot Tuto.

Murder charges have been filed against Rios by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) on Monday, June 3.

"This is an unfortunate incident, but justice must be served," said Wanky.

Rios faces a criminal charge and a motu proprio investigation by the Internal Affairs Service.

Wanky condoled with the family of Rios and ordered tight security for the woman who was blamed for the fatal incident.
