ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Vice President and Parliamentary leader of the PPP in the Senate Senator Sherry Rehman said that after the Indian election now the BJP to form the government has now to depend on those parties that do not do politics of hatred against minorities.

"Because of this, India's Muslims and other minorities will probably get a chance to have a sigh of relief for some time," she said while commenting on the results of Indian elections on social media platform 'X.'

Sherry Rehman was of the opinion that the BJP lost because it was tone deaf to unemployment, inequality and local economic distress, not to mention the violent and state sponsored weaponisation of hate embedded in an exclusivist Hindu extremist agenda.

Sherry Rehman was of the view that without Modi's majority, stability in the region and any significant change in the peace situation with Pakistan will depend on a huge shift in narrative and although brand Modi is down, it is not out.

In fact, Sherry Rehman said policy to Pakistan may become an "external" factor to rally real domestic losses. Pakistan featured way more heavily in the Modi campaign than India ever does now in a Pakistan election. "This despite all the talk that his focus is now on the Indo Pacific region," she said.

"The UP state is an example, often known as the gateway to Indian polls," she said, adding that the next upcoming Indian states elections should be watched.
