The Sokoto State Gov - ernment has absorbed 843 indigenous nurses and midwives into the state workforce. Commissioner for Health, Asabe Balarabe, said the state government through the ministry had succeeded in the absorp - tion of personnel and the monthly allowances re - stored.

The commissioner dis - closed this while briefing journalists at a ministerial scorecard press briefing organised by the Ministry of Information and Soci - etal Orientation, as well as that of Innovation and Digital Economy. The commissioner said the ministry had already posted the newly recruit - ed nurses and midwives to various facilities in an effort to address the short - age of health personnel in hospitals across the state.

Balarabe noted that within the past one year, the state government through the ministry of health was able to record huge successes in terms of renovation, upgrading and equipping a number of hospitals across the state in addition to the provision of drugs and other hospital equipment. She added that the min - istry also distributed 40,000 cartons of Ready-to Use Therapeutic Food otherwise known as TAMOWA to general hospitals for onward distribution to the children affected by out - break of unknown disease and other malnourished children across the state.
