Court finally annuls Jodi Sta. Maria, Pampi Lacson marriage

MANILA, Philippines -- Actress Jodi Sta. Maria celebrated after the Supreme Court finally allowed the annulment of her marriage with Pampi Lacson.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, Sta. Maria shared that she waited 13 years for the annulment.

"So I close my eyes to old ends, and open my heart to new beginnings" she said along with a photo of her looking at the sea.

"Finally, after 13 years of waiting, my petition for nullity of marriage has been granted by the Supreme Court."

According to her, the wait was a test of faith in God's promises and trust in God's timing.

"The time I spent in His waiting room was never easy nor was it comfortable. It was frustrating, discouraging, and even heartbreaking. I cried, prayed, questioned, and complained. I sulked, asked for forgiveness, and prayed some more. I wanted to give up, but He never let go of me."

"Looking back, it was His grace that sustained and carried me. He had a purpose for the waiting. And that was made clear to me by the Lord," she added.

She thanked the people who were with her in her journey which include her prayer warriors and people from the Calleja Law Office led by Connie Jimenez-Aquino for "the guidance, patience, and friendship."

"Now I can finally say... CASE CLOSED," Sta. Maria said.

Sta. Maria and Lacson were married in 2005, the same year their son Thirdy was born. They separated in 2011. In 2014, a court declared the couple's marriage "null and void."

However, in 2017, the Court of Appeals issued a decision stating that there was insufficient evidence to annul their marriage.

Lacson's current partner, actress Iwa Moto, commented on Sta. Maria's post. "Let's celebrate. Love you, amor!"

Moto and Lacson have two children, Hiromi Aiko Eve and Caleb Jiro.

Other celebrity friends also shared their happiness and support for Sta. Maria in her post.

Iza Calzado wrote, "God's timing is truly perfect! Love you!!!"

Shaina Magdayao commented, "In HIS perfect time, my friend. Love you!"

Hugs to you, Jodi! You've endured the pain, the judgments, the waiting on the Lord, and now you've emerged stronger in your faith. Proud of you, sis!" added Donita Rose.

Bianca Lapus, Vhong Navarro's ex-wife, shared, "Congratulations. Mine took 4 long years, but God truly knows when to give it. I still cry sometimes just thinking about that journey, all the pain and all the love I felt at the same time. Freedom, peace, and respect for each other to be able to co-parent has been one of the biggest blessings I'm grateful for. So happy for you."
