ALBAWABA -Sudan's former prime minister Abdalla Hamdok has recently commented on the ongoing deadly war in Sudan which started on April 2023.
Hamdok has blamed the Sudanese army and its leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan for driving the country into this war following the Sudanese coup that took down the civil government in 2021.
The head of the Sudanese Taqaddam Coordination said: "The coup carried out by army commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan in 2021 against the then-existing civilian government prepared for the outbreak of the current war."
The Independent newspaper revealed that the former PM described Al-Burhan's coup as "a seizure of power by unconstitutional means."
Furthermore, he maintained that the continuation of the armed conflict and its expansion exposes Sudan to existential dangers with the growth of hate speech, racism, and regionalism, which threatens the survival of the Sudanese state.
Nonetheless, Hamdok also called for the relaunch of negotiations between warring parties and an end to the war in Sudan which has been going on for over one year killing between 13,000 and 15,000 people and injuring 33,000 others, according to a report by Jan. 21.
The war in Sudan began on April 15, 2023, between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, commonly known as Hemedti.
