MANILA, Philippines -- Former presidential spokesman Harry Roque listed several reasons why Vice President Sara Duterte should accept the challenge to become an opposition leader after her resignation from the Cabinet of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, Roque said the first reason was that Duterte has the mandate of being the country's second highest elected leader and has the capabilities of a lawyer and a leader of the executive branch.
In addition, the former spokesman of the Vice President's father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, said she also stands firm on issues against the Marcos administration and that she also has the "highest net satisfaction and approval ratings" among government officials.
"She [Duterte] proved in her resignation that she is not an opportunist and that it's not in her desire to remain in office," Roque explained.
Finally, he also said the Vice President will not only fight for the interests of those in Mindanao but also the nation's interests.

"I hope she accepts the challenge of time!" he said.
Roque received criticism from the Liberal Party for making the declaration that Sara can become an opposition leader in a previous Facebook post on Wednesday.
