CAPE TOWN - A wreath-laying ceremony and memorial service will be held on Thursday morning for murdered Khayelitsha police officer, Akho Ndzingo.

The 30-year-old constable was on duty when he was shot and killed last week.

Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS), family and friends of the slain constable will gather in Khayelitsha on Thursday morning to honour his life.

Ndzingo, who was based at the Khayelitsha police station, was shot dead during a crime prevention operation in Q-Block last week.

The deceased and his colleagues were conducting a stop-and-search operation when they came under fire.

The police officer's murder is being investigated by the Hawks and no arrests have yet been made.
